If you’d like to participate in Aloha Friday, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at the very friendly place of Islandlife808.com. It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends and find new followers!

My question is: If you host reviews/giveaways how/why did you start, did you have a mentor & what advice would you give? If you don't, do you enter giveaways & what kind of giveaways are your favorite?
My question is a repeat from last week since I didn't get to link up

I am actually just about to start reviews and giveaways at the very beginning of June. I just befriended a few blogging Mamas I found. I found that they were so nice and helpful so, that made it very easy. For those just starting out I would recommend taking a month or so and register for giveaways in your spare time and also look around other blogs, leave comments, get a twitter account, and start talking with other bloggers. That will increase the amount of followers, too. Since I run an organic and natural parenting blog, I love organic products. My all-time favorites so far are things like baby lotions, bath wash, and diaper rash creams. My boys are my participants in my little experiments and love getting new items to try out. :)

I got started because I love sharing our opinion on things & love to give back! I had very very little help getting started & started out very small & built my way to where I am now. Advice: start small, join blogging groups & communities, don't get in over your head, & have fun.

I am just starting out and I am doing reviews because it has flexible hours and fits well into my SAHM schedule. I also love to find new products and hope to help others make informed decisions.

I have met some great ladies on other blogs so far.

I started to host reviews and giveaways accidentally when companies started to contact me. My blog was originally supposed to be about me and my grandson but it wound up being a review blog instead.

My advice is to only review products that you really like. I turn down quite a few, if it is something that I don't care for or believe in.

We started doing them because, we enjoy sharing great products we find with others. I enter giveaways because it's a great way to find out about new products, I've never heard of. My favorite giveaways are ones for kitchen gadgets and small appliances. We didn't have any help and my advice is to be honest with your reviews and have fun!

Ohhh I love me some giveaways! I enter a lot, because if you don't enter, you won't win! I love entering blog giveaways because you often get to be introduced to smaller companies and websites that you might not have found on your own.

My blog is very young but I do have some review and giveaways coming up soon. I have done giveaways, but just gift cards from me. I very much enjoy holding them, even if I am the sponsor.

I do reviews and giveaways and started a year after I had my blog. I integrate them into my blog and try not to do too many at a time. In my first year of blogging, I was learning more from others, figuring out my style and noting the types of things I would or would not review. I started thanks to Kailani and the group that she had at the time. Things have grown since that point and I have networked with new PR people. Going to other blogs, entering giveaways and networking at the local or blog conference levels definitely helps with time.

I had a bit of help and the best tip I ever got was keep trying the potential sponsors may say yes, no or ask later but keep trying

Over the years I've become very involved in reviews and giveaways. It wasn't something I planned on doing but now I'm hooked!

Hehe love this one- and sort of relates to mine this week as we're getting ready for our BIG summer bash.
No mentors- as with most things we just kind of wing it. Might change that. Probably a lot smaller learning curve.
The first giveaways we hosted ourselves, as I am a sweeper. After that companies and reps started coming to us.
Now, it is a combination of us asking them and them coming to us. And sometimes like now I am doing an Amazon GC open to worldwide JUST CUZ I feel like it- I know some of our readers are international and unfortunately it is not as easy to get sponsors that are willing to ship worldwide.
