10 Creative Ways to Maintain a Successful Marriage

10 Creative Ways to Maintain a Successful Marriage

When you first get married, your relationship is filled with passion and desire. Although you may fall in love with your husband or wife again with each passing day, you still have to compete with work, the kids and just life in general. However, it does not have to be this way. It is possible to maintain a successful marriage that is full of passion and intimacy for many, many more years to come.
Little things go a long way in a marriage where both people need to feel needed and desired. However, it is not entirely sexual. Your spouse needs to know that you appreciate him or her. They need to feel that they are doing all that they should be in the household as well as in the relationship. If they do not, they may tend to shy away from intimacy. Something as subtle as a wink or a kiss on the cheek can be all it takes to keep the spark alive within a relationship.
Marriage does not come with an instruction manual and you are not going to find foolproof formula to follow. However, you can do a few simple things to help maintain a successful marriage, such as:
1. Begin every day by saying a kind word to one another. For instance, if your husband or wife is dressing for work, mention how attractive he or she looks that day. Tell him or her that your greatest desire is to lie there in bed with them all day long. If you do not see your spouse first thing in the morning because of schedule conflicts, leave a note on the bathroom mirror or somewhere he or she is sure to see it.
2. Leave a voice mail, send an email or text your husband or wife sometime during the day to say you are thinking of them.
3. Notice little accomplishments that your spouse has done, such as tidying a room or mowing the lawn.
4. Take the time to flirt with your spouse.
5. Always treat your spouse with respect.
6. Listen to your spouse and hear what they have to say.
7. Trust your spouse without worry or second-guessing.
8. Remember to spend time just being a couple. Make a date night so you can reconnect with one another, maintaining the spark that caused you to fall in love in the first place.
9. Communicate with your spouse. Always let him or her know how you feel and take the time to listen to their thoughts and feelings as well.
10. Be creative in your love life and do not be afraid to experience new things together.
