Nutrisystem Review: Week 2 Progress

So this week wasn't as successful as last week but that’s ok since I'm not gaining weight! I also wanted to address some questions that have been asked on my post & actually questions that have been emailed to me. Quickly I wanted to review some of my favorite meals so far. Oh by the way it's getting slightly easier than last week with my hunger & cravings.

Start as of 2/1/2011
Height – 5'3"
Current Weight – 153lbs 8oz
Waist: 37 1/4 inches
Goal Weight – 120

First Week 2/8/2011
Lost: 3lbs 4oz
Current Weight: 150lbs 4oz
Waist: 36 1/2 inches

Second Week 2/15/11
Lost: 1lb (16oz)
Current Weight: 149lbs 4oz
Waist: 36 1/2 inches

Yes I am fairly annoyed but I should be used to the lack of ability to lose weight easily. But I can look at it this way, at least I'm not gaining weight. I know it would be easier if I could exercise but for right now I can't. I fell a little over 3 years ago going down my very steep steps while getting dress clothes out of my attic. I had a horrible Dr. & she wouldn't get an MRI of my knee only an X-Ray which didn’t reveal anything. There was no swelling or redness just pure pain so in turn she didn’t take me seriously.

So finally after 3 years of intense pain I found a new doctor who ordered an MRI. For 3 years I have been running on my bad knee with a torn ACL plus other problems in my knee. Oh ya I was also doing P90X which I loved but some of the moves just killed me. We also have EA Active but then again some of the stuff was impossible.

I finally just gave up because of the pain which would keep me up at night. It killed me to walk up my stairs & sitting for long periods also hurt. I was taking pain meds which barely touched my knee pain. So now I am looking at physical therapy before going on to hopefully surgery.

The sad thing is I know better & knew exactly what was wrong with my knee. I was dumb enough to listen to the Dr. who apparently needs to go back to school. So the whole point of this story if you think something is wrong & your doctor will not listen to you, find a new one that will.
Now that I am done complaining below are some of my favorite foods

Homestyle Beef with Mashed Potatoes & Gravy
If you're a "meat 'n potatoes" guy or gal, this dish was made for you! You get tender beef in a perfectly-seasoned gravy, served with vegetables and creamy mashed potatoes. This is good, all-American fare that's sure to be a meat-lover's favorite.

I love this meal & it's really tasty just add some salt & it's perfect. In my opinion it doesn't really resemble the above picture but this is a favorite of mine.
Meatloaf & Tomato Sauce with Mashed Potatoes
Filling, delicious and satisfying-when it comes to comfort food, there's really nothing better than meatloaf! In this all-star dinner, you get a thick slice of flavorful meatloaf topped with a tomato-rich sauce, along with delicious mashed potatoes. It's a simple, hearty meal, just like Mom used to make.

Just as the above meal just add some salt & this meal is awesome! But if you are not a tomato sauce person this may not be for you because the taste is fairly strong. I really loved this one just as the steak meal. The potatoes are really yummy also & taste better than some instant I have had.

Cinnamon Bun
If you like the hot cinnamon rolls you can get at most malls, you're going to love this breakfast! You get all the flavor of that gooey, decadent treat with none of the guilt! This tender roll is swirled around a sweet cinnamon filling and then topped with a creamy frosting that melts when the roll is heated through. Go ahead; indulge yourself!

This bun is very heavy & filling along with the other foods for breakfast. The texture I have mixed feelings about but overall the bun was good. The frosting was perfect & on spot with what it should taste like!
Cheese Tortellini
Pasta anyone? Yes, pasta for lunch! Tender yet substantial tortellini are stuffed with savory parmesan cheese and covered in a rich tomato sauce. With just the right amount of spices, it's tortellini that's restaurant good.

Awesome meal that tastes good & filling! I gave it a sprinkle of salt & it was perfect.

Questions from posts & emails
~ Do you really feel satisfied?
Yes & no to this question. Realistically you have to think about it this way - When you cut your calories from around 3,500 (it may have been more or less depending on the day) to around 1,200 you're going to be hungry no matter what you eat. Plus, if the person reducing calories is exercising well you are going to be even hungrier because of the burning of those calories.

So in my opinion before I would even considering exercise I would get used to the program & the reduced calories. You don't want to set yourself up for failure & if you are like me this would be needed.

~ I am afraid I wouldn't be able to hold back eating more, especially if the family is eating something yummy
Well I am actually having fun looking forward to trying new foods so this helps ease the jealousy towards the other members(hahhahaha). But you have to be in the mind set of wanting bad enough to lose the weight. You also can't ask for perfection when dieting & I try to give myself a break.

We went out to dinner for Vday at Red Lobster. Yes I was bad but I limited the badness to a degree of not feeling too guilty. I had a bite of the yummy biscuits they serve & ranch on my salad ( but the 5 year old ate most). I had a steak with fries which I gave to my son.

So in my opinion & I have done this before give yourself a reward. I would give myself a reward of a chicken nugget happy meal every 2 weeks. Yes I love fries they are weakness of mine :)

~ Little will power
Ok I have the same problem with will power. My motivation is from a picture at the beach which is so embarrassing I need to post it. I love food that’s very bad& pop is another weakness. I grew up drinking pop even at a young age. It becomes a habit & it's so hard to break especially when that’s your main drink of choice.

I guess it's like stopping smoking you have to want it bad enough but it's as hard as hell. I really have to push myself because of the fatigue experienced from MS. This is one of my big fat obstacles that stand in my way.

~ Is the Food Gross
Ok I look at it this way when you try an unknown brand you have to find out what you like & don't like. So ya some of the food I really don't care for but other food is awesome. So you have to find the food you like. It's a trial & error process that you can get down in a month.

The best feature of Nutrisystem is the simplicity of the program. If you are like me I can't read a book to figure out what I need to do because I will be totally lost. Then when I get lost I get annoyed & I fail. If you can get the will power to stick to this diet you will be successful because of the balance Nutrisystem has put in place for you!
