DelGrosso Foods is America’s oldest major family-owned producer of pasta sauce, building on its beginnings in 1914 and an old-world immigrant’s secret recipe. As America’s “First Family of Pasta Sauce,” the DelGrossos have more recently created a specialty line of all natural, ultra-premium pasta sauces called La Famiglia DelGrosso. Made with whole peeled imported Italian plum tomatoes, imported Italian olive oil, and the finest, freshest ingredients available, each recipe from the La Famiglia DelGrosso lineup was created by a different member of the DelGrosso family and is a celebration of a particular holiday or family occasion.
La Famiglia DelGrosso has been featured in numerous national publications and TV programs, including Natural Health, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Every Day With Rachael Ray, Gourmet, NBC’S TODAY show, ABC’s The View, and the Food Network show Unwrapped.
The very wonderful people over at DelGrosso Sent me 8 different sauces to try out for myself! Neither Tim nor myself have ever had their sauce so this was completely new to us! I'm not a big spaghetti eater but I like other pasta dishes & dishes that call for pasta sauce!
This sauce was hands down the best jar sauce that you can buy in a store! It was above our expectation in taste & quality. As soon as you open the jar the aroma hits you right in the face. Below are the sauces we were lucky enough to try out.
Uncle Fred's Fireworks Sauce
Every 4th of July, crowds gather for a premier fireworks show at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park in Tipton, Pennsylvania. Back in the park kitchen, family members line up for a taste of our Uncle Fred’s Fireworks Sauce. Fred explains, “I use the freshest zucchini, garlic and onions from my garden with just the right amount of spices to make this tangy, tasty favorite.” But be warned, if he catches you standing around the kitchen he’ll probably put you to work.
This was a hit with both Tim & me due to the spices that were used! One thing we loved about this sauce & every other sauce from Delgrosso was the freshness that can not be beat by any other sauce you can buy in the store.
Uncle Joe's Vodka Celebration
There’s never a question in our family what to serve for birthdays, graduations, or other celebrations. Our Uncle Joe makes the best vodka sauce you will find. As the youngest in a large Italian family, Joe always had to prove himself. “I worked on this recipe forever. I use whole Italian plum tomatoes, special spices, cream and a splash of vodka.” When he served it for the first time, “Everyone loved it,” says Joe with a smile. “It’s been a hit ever since.”
I really really like Vodka so I was extremely excited when I saw this awesome jar of sauce that had Vodka written on it! Leave it up to the youngest of the family to make something very unusual but completely awesome with a touch of vodka.
The only thing I can say is if you love vodka you will love this sauce. But I also want to point out that the vodka is not potent. So if you are not a lover of vodka like Tim you will still be pleased by this awesome sauce!
Uncle Bo's Roasted Red Pepper
As a former professional golfer, our Uncle Bo knows something about taking things slow. After wowing spectators on the course with his steady hand, Bo would show us a different type of play in the kitchen. “Making sauce is like sinking a twenty-foot putt—it’s about precision and patience,” he says. Using slow roasted red peppers with fresh garlic and spices, Bo’s precise formulation will have you cheering from the gallery, or at least your dining room seats.
This sauce literally tasted like it was just picked fresh from the garden. If you love fresh sauce that is not to thick but has the taste of veggies you will love this sauce. The boys tore this sauce up & asked for more.
One way you know a sauce is fresh & true to the freshness with real ingredients is that is a little runny. I know when I made homemade sauce it was thick but had a little runniness to the sauce.
Chef John's Tomato Basil Masterpiece
John McCracken was welcomed into the DelGrosso family when he lost his mother at the age of fourteen. Since that time, Chef John has not only guarded our generations-old DelGrosso recipes, but has added his own creations. He explains, “This tomato basil is a unique and intensely flavorful blend of heritage and innovation.” After one bite, we are sure you will agree that John is an artist among chefs, and in this sauce, he has created his masterpiece.
Aunt Linda's Arrabbiata Memories
There is no more important day of the year for the DelGrosso family than Christmas Eve at our grandparents’ house. Our Aunt Linda treasures this traditional Feast of Seven Fishes more than anyone else. As a little girl on these occasions, she would reach for an apron and join her mother in the kitchen. “I loved watching mom create her scrumptious spicy Arrabbiata sauce. I still make it just exactly the way she did, and I’ll never change a thing.”
Uncle Jim's Late Night Puttanesca
Our Uncle Jimmy is always up to something. He’s prone to go a little over the top, even when it comes to sauce. Jim’s puttanesca is perfect for those late-night cravings when we need a hearty, tasty dish. Jim insists, “You won’t find a better sauce. I add Chablis wine and use the best-looking and freshest vegetables—and I use more than anyone else—lots of mushrooms, olives, capers and onions. I guarantee you’ll walk away satisfied!” This may be one time when we all agree with him.
Aunt Cindy's Sun-Dried Tomato Sonata
Summer evening dinner parties under the moonlight at Aunt Cindy’s were elegant affairs that made us all feel a little more fashionable. “These were occasions when appearances mattered,” Cindy explains. “The food had to not only look the part, but also stand up to discriminating palates.” Everyone agrees—her succulent sun-dried tomato sauce is perfectly designed. And paired with a fine Chianti and Italian music, you will agree, this is “la dolce vita.”
Aunt Mary Ann's Sunday Marinara
Sunday has always been a special day in the DelGrosso family. It’s a day to relax after a week of hard work and celebrate our blessings as one large family. Our Aunt Mary Ann believes in tradizione and insists that on Sundays, “Only the best will do—especially when it comes to pasta sauce. In Pontecorvo, Italy my grandmother Marianna made her special marinara sauce with fresh garden tomatoes and herbs. I’m proud to bear her name and keep the tradition of her sauce alive.”
One thing's for sure all of the above sauces are unqiue to their own but so unbelievably fresh it tasted like it was made right in my kitchen! We will from now on only buy DelGrosso Sauce's for our pasta dishes & whenever we may need it! Give it a try * I guarantee you will see exactly what I am talking about!
